Child psychology - Late Childhood

Characteristics of late childhood:

Late childhood extends from 6 years to 12 years. By 12, the child becomes sexually mature. For most young children, there is a major change in the pattern of their lives. While adjusting to the new demands and expectations, most children are in a state of disequilibrium. They are emotionally disturbed. Many changes take place in attitudes, values and behavior. While the last year or two, marked corporal changes take place. The corporal changes at the end of this stage originate a disequilibrium resulting in the disturbance of accustomed life style..

Baby Gate

It is a troublesome age by which the children are no longer willing to do what they are told to do. Older children, especially boys, are careless about their clothes and other material possessions. Such an age is called as the sloppy age. Again it is regarded as a quarrelsome age because we can see the boy child and girl child often indulged in mini quarrels.

It is at this stage that the children fetch the rudiments of knowledge that are thought about as indispensable for thriving adjustment to adult life.

Again there is a gang spirit in which the major concern is the acceptance by the age-mates in a gang. There is a team spirit in play activities and creative works.

Physical increase gives a predictable future in body buildings with reference to weight and height. corporal increase in sex matters, come to be more pronounced. Puberty increase spurt a minuscule later for boys than girls.

iii) Self help skills

iv) public help skills

The Art of Rap Punchlines

Rap punchlines are to hip hop like slam dunks are to basketball: if done correctly, they bring a crowd to their feet. However, if you mess up, it's just about the most awkward and embarrassing situation imaginable.

Freestyle battle rap punchlines are given a puny more slack than their written counterparts, since they are off the top of the head. A decent freestyle rap punchline can bring the house down, and if you screw up, well, what the heck, you were just freestyling anyways...

Baby Gate

Let's take a look at different types of rap punchlines:

The set up/smack down approach. In keeping with the basketball analogy, think of a solid punchline like an alley oop: the first line sets up, the second line slams it home. For example, "I talk back, just like a restaurateur/ leave your ass feeling served while you're eating your words."

Internal rhymes. When you can string some multi-syllable rhymes together, it makes the phrase that much more deadly. For example, here's a line TheSaurus, one of the greatest battle Mc's today, said: "I'll smoke you like a purple eighth, and give you an early date at the pearly gates." Ouch...

The reversal. This is where you take your opponents line and use it against him. For example, let's say someone calls you a nerd in a battle. You can talk "This guy claims I'm a nerd, well I guess that's true/ A nerd with words and verses much smarter than you!" Or "You call me a nerd 'cause of big words in my rapping? Son, your Iq's like your skill...totally lacking."

I hope some of these techniques have given you some ideas on how to create solid rap punchlines. Keep them in mind next time you battle; you never know what may come in handy.

How to identify Atypical Aspergers Syndrome

The incidence of Asperger's Syndrome is on the rise. Asperger's is one of the Autistic Spectrum Disorders, or Asd's. Whenever we see a spike in the incidence of a disorder, I always ask the questions "is this disorder/syndrome occurring more frequently? Or, are we plainly diagnosing it more often? Is it the new 'fashionable' diagnosis?" These are leading expert questions. Labels and diagnoses can shape a future for the better or worse. We shouldn't diagnose lightly. Many implications ensue a diagnosis.

I am looking with more frequency, elements of Asperger's Syndrome in children but an absence of some key identifying symptoms. The diagnostic criteria listed in the Diagnostic and Statistical manual Iv (Dsm-Iv, the manual authorized by the American Psychiatric Association) is far too lengthy to re-print here in an article. Some highlights are as follows:

Baby Gate

1. Qualitative impairment in public interaction.

2. Restricted repetitive and stereotyped patterns of behavior, interests, and activities.

3. The disturbance causes clinically essential impairment in social, occupational, or other leading areas of functioning.

4. There is no essential general delay in language (e.g., single words used by age 2 years, communicative phrases used by age 3 years).

5. There is no clinically essential delay in cognitive development of age-appropriate self-help skills, adaptive behavior (other than in public interaction), and curiosity about the environment in childhood.

6. Criteria are not met for other specific Pervasive Developmental Disorder or Schizophrenia. (1)

You can crusade on-line or at your library for a more detailed listing of the diagnostic criteria.

I am using the term "Atypical Asperger's Syndrome" to refer to children whom seem to meet some of the criteria but not all. Things just don't seem to click for these kids. They just don't engage the way other children do.

Atypical Aspergers may be best discussed by comparing it to some other possible diagnoses that we may be ruling out. They are as follows:

· public Anxiety Disorder: Children with this disorder may appear quite shy. They are hesitant to engage with other children. They prefer the business of adults. In differentiating this from Atypical Asperger's, the Asperger's child isn't remotely upset, involved or bothered by the fact that they aren't included in the group. Or, they are included in the group but remain somewhat constantly distant. They can play side by side with other children without no ifs ands or buts interacting with the other child.

· Low Intellectual Functioning: Upon first observation, the Atypical Aspergers child may appear dull or lacking in intelligence. The low intellectual functioning child ordinarily will perform poorly in school and need basic skills level classes. The Atypical Asperger's child any way is most often bright. They do well on test despite appearing lost or disinterested.

Asperger's Syndrome children typically make poor eye contact, speak in miniature phrases, are tangential, prefer public isolation. They display a lack of spontaneous seeking to share enjoyment, interests or achievements with others. They also display a lack of public or emotional reciprocity.

I am looking Atypical Asperger's children who make good eye contact. They are often capable of conducting a conversation with me in the office. They often perform this better in the office because I'm an adult. Parents and teachers narrative that these children are less skilled in conversation with their peer age group. They may candidly share experiences or achievements but often at inappropriate times, interjecting such into a argument somewhat randomly. And although they are bright, if I were their age I wouldn't be very interested in what they talk about. They appear immature, because they are socially immature.

For some reason, the Atypical Asperger's child doesn't seem interested in athletics and also not very good at them. I don't fully understand the neurology complex but I'm suspecting a connection.

Fashionable Syndrome?

I was discussing Asperger's with my 24 year old son just last week. We were looking at the homes of America's richest tech guys, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and "the facebook guy" Mark Zuckerberg. Our conversation led us to "how many of these very tantalizing and creative guys have Asperger's." And we must make an leading point, just because man appears socially awkward doesn't mean that they have any disorder at all, let alone Aspergers. It was plainly a conversation. I am not diagnosing any of these individuals from afar and have no idea if any of them have any version of Asperger's Syndrome. The point though is that he told me that in his 20 something age group it has come to be "fashionable" to say that you have Asperger's. It is sort of a badge of honor and an easy explanation for ones "quirkiness" now in public situations. Guys in bars and clubs are using this to generate an aura of "intellectual elite" connected to themselves. I see it as a way of saying "I'm no ifs ands or buts better and smarter than you and you couldn't maybe no ifs ands or buts understand me so don't even try." It's the new "I'm a nerd" declaration. Remember when being called a nerd was an insult? Remember when it became a badge of honor years later? This also points out that the more obvious cases of adult Atypical Asperger's Syndrome occur in tantalizing creative people. I don't believe that the incidence is higher in tantalizing population than less tantalizing people. We plainly observation it more because we observation high achievers full, more than lesser achievers.

This may seem strange or unusual at first glance. But think of how often you hear population referring to "my Add." I hear this all the time. It's come to be the excuse for everything. Any time man forgets, fails to perfect a task or return a phone call promptly, they announce that it's there Add. So to think that now the fashionable disorder or "disorder du jour" is something called Asperger's, doesn't surprise me in the least. We, as a society, are influenced by media and current fashion. All of the Autistic Spectrum disorders are in "fashion" in the media.

And this points to a concern. Sure diagnoses come to be popular. Think of this timeline. The beloved prognosis in the 1980's was "Chronic Fatigue Syndrome." I bet you forgot about that one. When was the last time you heard of man having it? Not recently, eh. Where did it go? What was the cure? In the 1990's Add and Adhd came into full bloom, even though we were talking about it in the 80's. They've hung on pretty well too. But in the 2000's we began to see a lot of children with Bipolar Disorder. When I first began in this field in the 1980's this prognosis was restricted for adults. The, it was expanded. Eventually, it became an all too often used diagnosis. Today, the incidence of all of the Autistic Spectrum Disorder (Asd) diagnoses is seen with greater and greater frequency. Asperger's Syndrome and what I'm calling Atypical Asperger's Syndrome fall under the kind of Asd. We must remember that diagnoses can carry instruction and public baggage. This baggage can be beneficial or limiting. Hiding behind a prognosis can limit growth and development. Self-Esteem can be enhanced or damaged by a diagnosis. A proper prognosis can lead to understanding and open up opportunity.

I believe that I'm looking a lot of Atypical Asperger's in my practice. Truth is, we're all different from one another. Reasoning that there is a way to be, grow and institute in childhood or adulthood is inaccurate. We all function within a range on a scale. Atypical Asperger's is plainly on a different part of that scale than most population are accustomed.

Here are some basic considerations if you question either your child may have a form of Asperger's Syndrome:

Your child is tantalizing but doesn't interact well with peers. Your child doesn't have a general filter when expressing himself. He says inappropriate things at inappropriate times. He doesn't seem too bothered to be on the "outside" of things socially. He is preoccupied or his focus on Sure activities is abnormal or unusually intense. He is preoccupied with parts of objects in a way that others are not. His conversation runs to things that are completely dis-interesting to others, and he fails to notice.

This is not an exhaustive or full, list. But it's a good start. Get a full, appraisal if you think this may be a problem.

Feel free to feel me for aid in appraisal or treatment. Even if just to ask me a question via email, I am available.

What is a Composite Baseball Bat?

Composite baseball bats are here to stay so know them, live them and love them.

Stronger and lighter than high-grade aluminum, composite baseball bats are whether made of a graphite-fiber composite material or have an aluminum core with graphite lining.

Baby Gate

The main advantage of composite is it's lighter than aluminum and hence provides for a larger barrel and sweet spot within the designated drop ratio. Composite bats give a whole lot more forgiveness for the imperfect swing, and have the potential to make the mean hitter a clean-up hitter.

Composite bats have been used and thorough in softball for the last ten years. They were introduced in baseball about the same time but were rejected in the baseball community for two reasons. First the early bats were much more susceptible to break and were thought about flimsy. Second, and amazingly more important, was that they do not produce the trademark "ping" of an aluminum bat. We've all come to be accustomed to hearing the ping that we believe a bat has no pop when we don't hear it. I remember a high school player telling me they're terrible because they sound like a wood bat. Because of this the manufacturers gave up on composite baseball bats.

Fast forward to 2008 and things have dramatically changed. Composite bats were reintroduced into baseball a few years ago and have ultimately been embraced by the community. They're becoming very beloved in baseball and will unquestionably dominate the bat manufactures enchanting forward.

There are some differences you'll need to understand about composite bats. To start off with, composite bats have a much longer break-in duration than aluminum bats. You'll need to hit 100 to 150 baseballs to correctly break in the bat (baseballs not batting cage balls). At first, the ball will sound like it came off a wooden bat but with allowable attempt and care you can break them in to the point where it sounds more like a rifle shot.

Then you'll need to perceive you're not swinging a hunk of metal anymore. Composite bats need some tender loving care and are slightly more susceptible to cold weather. Banging them on the concrete and fence posts is not a good idea.

Finally, you need to understand the most high-priced bats on the store are composite. So if you want one you'll need to pay top dollar in most cases. Manufacturers have started to offer some lower priced options such as the Louisville Omaha Comp and I'm sure more are on the way.

Composite bats are a great choice for today's baseball player from the youth to college level. As mentioned, they're here to stay so know them, live them and love them.

How to Introduce a New Cat Or Kitten to Your Established Cat

Even though we know that cats are highly territorial and do not truly accept a newcomer, it is reassuring to know that our cats can live in harmony with a newbie if the introductions are made correctly. They can adapt and accept a new cat into the family.

Doing the introductions properly and slowly at this first stage will make life so much easier down the track.

Baby Gate

At the outset you need to mindful that domestic tranquility will not happen instantly. It will take time and patience - but it will be worth it to be able to enlarge your family and enjoy the love and affection from an additional one cat in the household.

The best advent is to get a friend to carry your new kitten or cat into your house in a cat carrier case. It should be seen as a no fuss affair.

The new cat should be taken to a cut off room within which it will live on its own for a short time. The room should contain a cozy sleeping place, an individual litter box, water dish, feeding dish, toys and a scratching post.

Never exertion to put the cats together at once or exertion to force a meeting.

You are bringing the new cat into the territory of your existing cats so by first allowing it to occupy this one room is the best option. Your existing cat will swiftly know that an additional one cat is in its territory.

Scent is highly prominent for cats - your existing cat will be able to smell the new cat - even behind finished doors. You can expect some tantrums to take place - hissing, crying, etc as your cat asserts itself to the newcomer.

You should let your cat smell the other cat indirectly. This could be done by rubbing a towel on one and letting the other smell it. They will slowly come to accept this scent as a normal household scent.

This first duration will set the tone for the association for a long time to come so it's worth putting in the exertion for the duration of time it can take.

And we must not forget that the new cat will also be highly stressed advent into a new environment - especially f it hears an unhappy cat on the other side of the door. You need to be sick person and loving to both cats throughout this whole process.

The next step is to let the cats swap environments for a short duration of time on a combine of occasions. You will need help with this - one someone to carry out the new cat into the larger space while the other someone takes the resident cat into the new cat's temporary room and stays with it while it smells the new scents. Of policy the other cat should be supervised in case it dives under the lounge. At least you'll know where it is at all times.

The integration duration may take from a few days to a week or longer. You will get a sense of when the temperaments resolve as the adjustment slowly takes place.

Before the cats meet face-to-face in an open setting, it is recommended that you let them meet straight through the door which you hold slightly ajar so they can see one-another and sniff noses if they want. The other choice is to get some sort of grate or something like a baby gate - so they can see and smell each other but not be able to pounce on one-another with this level of protection.

When you think the time is right, let them meet face-to-face and mingle with one-another - under constant and close supervision.

Ignore any hissing and growling and be ready to intervene if any kind of altercation starts to take place. The more they tolerate one-another, the more praise and attentiveness each should receive. Again, there may need to be two of you at this delicate time.

Try to engage both of them in a pleasurable operation - like chasing a piece of string or playing with a toy they can both enjoy. This will let them join together fun and enjoyment with the company of the other cat. Give equal amounts of attentiveness to both cats - playing and patting. Always let them eat from their own food bowls.

If things start to get heated in the middle of the cats, you will need to again cut off them. The key is patience - at last they will learn to accept one-another even if only begrudgingly. Cats can fine their own space and play the avoidance game for however long is necessary.

An introduction can truly take from two hours to six months depending on the age of the cats and their temperaments - so the key is to persevere and be sick person and calm.

If you have an older cat - rather than introduce one kitten, think two kittens so they can amuse one-another and leave the older cat to enjoy some peace.

End

The Pros of Children's Television

I admit it my two year old daughter knows the names of all the characters on Playhouse Disney. She actually actually has her first crush...on Winnie the Pooh. Do I sometimes feel like a bad mum for allowing her to watch more than the recommended one hour of television for a child her age? Sometimes...but not for long.

Why you ask? Because first of all, her telly is supervised. She never watches anyone unless I am in the room or nearby. I know what is going into her minuscule mind. Secondly, I believe that watching ability shows is teaching her in a fun manner. The minuscule Einsteins expose her to classical music and art. Mickey's Clubhouse teaches her mental skills. Bear in the Big Blue House teaches her to get along with others. And most importantly, I re-enforce all those lessons by talking to her about what she sees. We discuss ways that she and I can copy those lessons and use them in our daily life. It is funny to watch her help her daddy with a Diy task on the weekend and hear her call a screw driver Turner or Philippe...from Handy Manny.

Baby Gate

As I sit here now writing this article, I have one eye on my daughter, who is playing with the large screws from the safety gates. Could that be because she is trying to emulate Manny and his tools? It is called active watching. Rarely will my daughter sit staring at the Tv screen...only when she is very tired. It is something that she glances at as she plays.

Yet for a stay-at-home parent trying to balance the demands of caring for a child with the time significant to build a new business, ability children's television can be a real life saver. It offers my daughter mental stimulation and lessons when I am at the computer or on the phone. Of course, as I said it is important to monitor what they watch...and to use your discretion. I do not allow her to watch anyone that is violent...even in cartoons. But if used wisely, ability children's television can supply parents with a break and children with important lessons.

public Control, and Introduction

Throughout my life I have been immersed in the world of protest. Beginning at a young age, I frequently attended rallies, marches, and picket lines with my mother, as she would not always want to get a sitter, and more importantly, believed them to be leading activities to be complex in. While I cannot categorically remember individual accounts of attending these protests, I do know that it had an gigantic result on me. In these few years that I have been living, I have realized that, by being so complex and surrounded with forms of enchanting injustice, I am a very hard person to be told what to do. For better or for worse, I most often demand the situation or education that I am presented with, and I rarely accept what I am told as the final decision.

As it turns out, this aspect of my personality has lead me to recognize many things that I do not accept in the conduction of society. For instance, the topic of this paper, the behavioral control of the masses by the few, to achieve what is sought after by wealthy power holders. This personal discovery has revealed many injustices to me, as well as it has shown me additional proof that one cannot trust those who we rely on the most to keep our country operational, not in the sense that without the working class our community would crumble, but rather in the sense that without the power holding class to control the proletariat, the work would not be done. I say this not to by comparison the abuse and exploitation of the working class, but to point out that at this stage in our evolution of human society, some control of the masses is necessary.

Baby Gate

Through the following exploration of injustice in the form of social control, I intend to emphasize that institutions in our community promote conformity through methods of social control to increase stability and profit, and to reserve power in the hands of few. Throughout this paper, I will be exterior numerous aspects of social control. I will discuss the significance of psychological development, socialization, and indoctrination in social control. I will go over a collection of examples of social control occurring in the U.S. And colse to the world. Most importantly, I will recognize the methods through which social control is achieved. And finally, I will recognize how it can be, has been, and is challenged, and the consequences linked with these objections.

Relevant Concepts
Psychological Development

It is leading to reconsider the result of natural psychological development, and its role in and gift to social control. The need to design a sense of individuality as well as a sense of fitting in has been a major aspect of the human psyche that plays such a role. This need for a balance of belongingness and individuality is leading to understand while examining its use as a point of exploitation, and can be much more categorically understood by noting the dissimilarity between nonconformity and individuality.

Firstly, while conformity and nonconformity are inescapable opposites, they do not share the same connection that is revealed when comparing conformity and individuality. Taking the following scenario for example displays the dissimilarity that nonconformity and individuality produce. In "The social Animal," Elliot Aronson states:
"...consider the rebellious teenager who smokes cigarettes, stays out late, gets tattooed, or dates a inescapable boy just because she knows that her parents disapprove. She is not manifesting independence so much as she is displaying anti-conformity, not mental for herself, but automatically acting contrary to the desires or expectations of others."
This example shows that while going against the wishes of others displays nonconformity, it does not display individuality because it is fueled by a desire to go against someone else force, rather than the need to be one's own self.

The effectiveness of most marketing campaigns relies greatly on enchanting to peoples' desire to conform. Take for example a billboard for Abercrombie and Fitch clothing that shows a very "sexy" model; while the advertisement itself is for clothes, the model is shown with nearly no garments at all. This example displays the fact that the marketing scheme is not to show people that the clothes are of any quality, but to make people think that they will fit into the "good looking" group of people by purchasing Abercrombie and Fitch products. It increases the individual's desire to conform to the fashion of the day as a route to popularity and inclusion.

Another example that can be used to recognize the severity of a normal human being's want to fit in can be seen in Solomon Asch's "perceptual judgment" experiment. The experiment called for five participants per observation, however, four of the five were employed by the experimenter. The participants are all shown a line, then shown three more lines, and then asked to indicate, one by one, which of the three lines was closest to the distance of the first. The lines are such that it should be no problem for the accurate riposte to be given; in fact, the controlled observations showed a nearly complete absence of error. As the experiment is set up, the four confederates riposte first, incorrectly, and the remaining participant, 35% of the time, also answered incorrectly. Asch's experiment proves that even in the face of what should be a clear-cut answer, the human need for conformity and belongingness still overwhelms the part of our minds that knows we are right.

On the other hand, individuality is shown through the intentional decisions that some select to make. By defining a set of values that one lives by and by not allowing meaningless influences to influence their choices, an individual attains a inescapable level of independence.
Socialization

Socialization is used since the start of one's life in order to condition one into mental and acting in inescapable ways. All things from how to ask for things to how one is anticipated to behave in different settings and at different times is programmed into our minds through socialization.

One can see a very clear use of socialization when examining the techniques used to teach children to say please and thank you. When a child asks for something without saying please, whoever they're request should have been socialized themselves as children to not give the child what he or she wants, but to ask for the "magic word." This magic word enterprise has been used by adults to teach kids what is requisite for them to fetch what they want, in order to have their way, or to get where they want to be.

Another example of socialization is the use of the word "no" with children. As a child does something that the parent doesn't want them to, they are awarded with a negative sounding "no." As the child experiences "no" more and more, he or she will begin to understand that inescapable things are not okay to do, touch, or at a inescapable point, say. This example can also be observed in the training of dogs; negative sounds are used to stop the pup-in-training from doing what is not accepted, and in time, to learn not to do those things without the negative feedback from the owner.

A third example of socialization that is used with children is the different meanings we connect to different colors. Kids are constantly surrounded with information that pushes them to think that inescapable colors are for girls, and inescapable colors are for boys. For instance, walking into a toy store, the so-called "girl toys" will be sorted into pink or purple sections, while the "boy toys" are clearly marked by their placement together in what turns out to be the blue or red aisles of the store.

Many other forms of socialization exist in community and, in fact, without some form of socialization, and social control for that matter, community would not exist. It is society's premier purpose to provide control and order to groups of people.

Methods of social Control

Social control can come in many different forms as many things can be used to fetch a result of behavior. This sort of control can be gained through the use of incentive, fear, conditioning, anger, division, deception, and many other techniques. As social control can range from thoroughly blatant approaches to much more subtle and deceptive methods, there is as much room for dissimilarity as there is methods of control.
Laws and Policies

Arguably the most overt technique of social control is the use of laws and policies to control behavior. Laws and policies can control nearly anything the controller wants, fluctuating from drug laws to the control of where and how an individual may travel.

An example of legal control being used can be seen in the comparison of controlled substances, for instance, marijuana and alcohol policies. Alcohol has been legal for most of our country's history, and even though it was outlawed for nearly 15 years in the U.S., it remains to be a large contributer to the every year death toll. On the other hand, marijuana, which began to be controlled in the 1930s, has never directly caused a death in the world. By examining the differences between the fatality of alcohol and marijuana, one can see that the law makers obviously have a inexpressive agenda.

In the 1930s, when marijuana was first brought before congress to be outlawed, Harry J. Anslinger stated that: "Marijuana is an addictive drug which produces in its users insanity, criminality, and death." This statement is an example of the extent of deceit that has been used to control, not only the behavior of community through laws and policies, but the thoughts on which voters base their support.

Since the criminalization of marijuana, many have speculated as to why these laws have been passed. Arguments have been made that the policies were fueled by those in control of the paper business who saw hemp as a threatening new alternative or by the possibility that cannabis could be used instead of newly discovered plastics and fuels. In exploration of this instance of social control, we see that the rich and grand corporate owners furthered their own profits by having the competition outlawed or in some way made less attractive.

Capitalism would work a lot better if inescapable people didn't have advantages that were gained, not through a better product, but through more resources.
Political Strategies

Another, less overt recipe of social control is the use of political strategies, namely by politicians, to trick voters into supporting them on less important, and in some cases thoroughly insignificant platforms. One such strategy was used as an example in "The Real War on Crime" by Steven Donziger. He recounts: "...during an choosing year, residents of a tranquil town in rural Virginia were polled on their most leading concerns. At the time, one of the leading candidates was attracting media interest with his proposal that parole be abolished for all violent offenders. There had not been a homicide for over two decades in the town. There was virtually no violent street crime. Yet the majority of citizens listed violent crime as their most pressing concern."

This use of coercion and manipulation is obviously wrong in many ways, most noticeably that the politician acted as, instead of a protector of the people's rights, an engineer of disorder and ignorance.

Another example of political strategy being used to turn people's perspective on a inescapable situation is the use of vast amounts of resources to make inescapable figures seem more standard to the public. Take for example the spending of hundreds of thousands of dollars on the appearance of the Palin house while the 2008 presidential race. This careless use of money is a prime example of the extent to which institutions will go to increase reserve in their platform. This fantastic spending of money had categorically nothing to do with policies or ideals that the single custom held, instead, it was deemed requisite in order to generate a sense of the Palin family's belongingness to a inescapable style of living. A sense that was perceived as requisite to generate in order to give Palin's party an advantage over the other candidate's platform.
Ideological Divisions

A third and even more subtle recipe of social control is the use of ideological divisions which can be instituted by any person that has something to gain from less of an opposition. The most preeminent example of this recipe of social control regards the creation of perceived differences between subgroups of the working class that is discussed in "How the Irish Became White." In Noel Ignatiev's exploration of the 1800's working class situation, he reveals that the Irish were given the title "white" people so as to give them a sense of superiority to the rest of the proletariat, so that they would not rally together against their shared oppression. Instead of working together, the working class was now separated, giving the upper class a majority of like minded voters, and the preservation of power in the wealthy. Strategies such as this have been used countless times in the history of society.

Another preeminent use of ideological agency is the creation of the class ideas itself. While there will always be differences between the rich and not rich, the use of different terms for the not rich is used to cut off people that would regularly be able to work together to achieve a better situation. If the lower classes came together despite their petty differences that are blown out of proportion by the rich-controlled media, they would control the majority of votes used to pass laws and policies, meaning that they would be able to generate much more fair circumstances for themselves.

Another example of this is the fact that Washington state has most regressive tax ideas in the country. This means that as earnings goes up, the proportion of it that goes toward state taxes goes down, a result of a belief on the sales tax. Some attempt has been made to reform our tax ideas by instituting an earnings tax so that it is more fair and stable, but interestingly, many people who would advantage by paying less in taxes find it difficult to reserve such a change, largely because our community seems to detest taxation. There are many lower or middle earnings people who vote against their own economic interests because they have been convinced by politicians and the media that taxes are "wasted" on social programs, rather than recognizing that we are all in this together and that our community is better for everybody when we join together in solidarity.
Religion

While religion is not directly used by the U.S. Government to control the behavior of the people, it is leading to understand that it is still a form of social control, and that even though it is not used directly, the ideals and religious doctrine that drive religion are used as justification for many uses of unjust social control in the U.S. Religion has been used throughout history as a way for those without power, to gain power. This view is clearly held by Scroobius Pip, in his song "A Letter from God to Man," he says:
"Religion became a tool, for the weak to control the strong with all these new morals and ethics, survival of the fittest was gone no longer could the biggest man simply take anything he needed because damnation was the price if inescapable rules were not heeded."
Through Mr. Pip's lyrical description of the true use of religion, one can see that it would not be hard to believe that religion is used in order to control those who would regularly "take anything he needed."

Another, similar view on religion was held by the Father of Communism, Karl Marx. In the introduction of his "Critique of Hegel's 'Philosophy of Right'," where he states "[Religion] is the opiate of the masses." In this statement, Marx gets at the fact that religion is used to control what many people are willing to do, just because a book that was written a long time ago says that you're not supposed to do something.
Education

As a trainee of social education for over 10 years, I have found that something is wrong about the formal side of things. While I have been very pleased with the education that I have received, I feel that there is a vast gray area between an education of enlightenment, and that of
the goal "to sell out as many individuals as potential to the same safe level, to breed and train a standardized citizenry," as referred to in H.L. Mencken's thoughts on the "aim of social education."

While I would say that Mencken was a diminutive more ultimate in his critique of the social education ideas than that of my eyes, I do agree that his diagnosis of what is happening is true. I vary in that I do not feel that the aim of social education is thoroughly attempted, and therefore far less than achieved. Throughout my education experience, especially that of high school, I have grown more appreciative of the level of education that at the very least a requisite division of my educators have left me with. I have been brought to at least a degree of enlightenment, despite what may have been the system's intention. In fact, it would be rather insulting to the youth to think that a goal such as to "put down dissent and originality" of hundreds of adolescents in a single building could be achieved without the cooperation of the majority of the system's educators.

This cooperation of procedure cannot be attained because there is a large sufficient division of people that do not conform. As we learned earlier in Asch's perceptual experiment, 65% percent of the time the subject did not conform, and instead acted in preservation of what they knew to be correct. It is this 65% percent of the time that educators are not conditioned in their own education to become a contributer to the attempt to sell out the enlightenment one receives in formal education.

The conditioning that I refer to is that of the idea presented by Noam Chomsky, that through formal education individuals are brought to think a inescapable way. He suggests that those in places of power sufficient to matter, are there because they went through the anticipated channels, and were brought to a single way of thinking. In his "What Makes Mainstream Media Mainstream" article, Chomsky states: "There are all sorts of filtering devices to get rid of people who are a pain in the neck and think independently. Those of you who have been through college know that the educational ideas is very highly geared to rewarding conformity and obedience..."

Because of the fact that these filtering devices cannot be perfect, many of those who think independently have gone through the ideas but without being conditioned into the intended point of view. I believe that educators are among the most unconditioned thinkers because the conditioning also incorporates a sense of superiority and belonging to the elite, as Chomsky puts it later in the same description "If you go through a place like Harvard, most of what goes on there is teaching manners; how to behave like a member of the upper classes, how to think the right thoughts, and so on." With this statement in mind, one can see that many of those who hold this sense of superiority, would also hold financial aspects of life in a higher view than most social educators.

Not to say that holding finances as a high priority indicates conditioning, or that social educators do not prioritize wealth, but that choosing to be a social educator comes with a sell out of wealth, for a gain of what is more leading in an individual's mind. It is because of this that the government has not achieved its intended use of the social educational system, because those that are conditioned to think in a conformist point of view, are not ordinarily in social education, because they are conditioned to feel that they deserve a monetarily wealthy life.

Mass Media
Perhaps the most varying form of social control, mass media can be used as one of the most subtle, or as one of the most blatant methods of behavioral control. Take for example the extent of diction that the news networks go to to influence how we realize controversial topics. One instance of diction being used to turn how people may see a inescapable topic is the use of "pro-choice" for those who are not against abortion, and "pro-life" for those who are against abortion. While "pro-choice" does not carry any negative connotations, the term "pro-life" suggests that the other side of the discussion is "pro-death" rather than "pro-choice." This sort of selection in words shows that the media could just as categorically name two sides of a procedure much more fairly, but that they select not to, in order to promote the side that they are controlled by. This not-so-fair-and-balanced approach to news coverage is just one of many instances of media bias.

Another example of media bias and social control is similar in that it regards the selection of words complex in the distribution of information. After the 9/11/01 terrorist attacks, the word terror was flashed across news screens seemingly incessantly. The fact that the media diminutive their selection of words, and the extent to which these words were burned into the eyes of the viewers shows that they must have had some alternate schedule to that of information distribution. This alternate, or inexpressive schedule is most categorically regarded as that of the owners of the media, the wealthy, empowered people that behalf from the destruction and rebuilding of less developed countries. By creating a sense of terror being so much more common in the world today, the elite corporate controllers were able to send the U.S. To invade multiple countries, costing the people billions of dollars and thousands of lives, while those who engineered these "wars" behalf from the weapons contracts, cheap labor, necessity of infrastructure that has been produced as a consequence of such destruction.

Mass media is such an sufficient recipe of social control for a collection of reasons, most notably, because it is monopolized to such an extent that most of the information we receive is controlled by a very like minded group of people with many of the same priorities. The monopolization of mass media creates a problem in information distribution because if all of the distributors of what we as a community believe to be the truth control what we see, then we can categorically be fooled into believing less what is true, and more what they want.

Media conglomerates such as News Corporation, owned by Rupert Murdoch, are prime examples of the negativity that such control produces. News Corporation alone owns nearly 50 newspapers, 30 magazines, and countless television channels, not to mention the book publishers and Internet sources and services. News Corporation is currently ranked the second largest media conglomerate in the world behind The Walt Disney Company. This single example of attentiveness of possession shows that while many may think that we have a vast collection of sources of information, most of the information we receive is owned by quite a small group of people.

It is leading to understand that education is not the only way in which conditioning is linked to social control and that the monopolization of mass media is due, in part, to this conditioning of thought. As many of the conditioned intellectuals play large roles in the ability of the media to be so controllable. If so many like minded people didn't fill up the institutional structure, then there would be too much independent mental for the media to be in the state that it is now. Also from Chomsky's "What Makes Mainstream Media Mainstream," he says:
"[media authors] say, quite correctly, 'nobody ever tells me what to write. I write anything I like. All this enterprise about pressures and constraints is nonsense because I'm never under any pressure.' Which is thoroughly true, but the point is that they wouldn't be there unless they had already demonstrated that nobody has to tell them what to write because they are going say the right thing."

Mass media, especially in the form of an information monopoly has been used since its plan to shape the beliefs and thoughts of its audience. This indoctrination has been used in a multitude of ways to achieve the goals of those who control these conglomerates. The information we receive through this cartel is managed by those who have the most power in the United States, the wealthy and wicked. Every major news network exists solely to profit, behalf that is generated through advertising, advertising that exploits the insecurities and fears that are created by the profiteer. An example of such an insecurity created by those who behalf from them can be seen in the clothing industry. Advertisements selling clothes often portray an image of what many believe to be an ideal figure. For example, many clothing lines display their products on unnaturally slim, thoroughly unrealistic finding models. Fantasize a young woman that sees such an advertisement, who then begins to demand the adequacy of her more natural body. If this contributes to her purchase of the advertised goods, to enhance her self-image, the cartel has achieved its purpose.

Another example of the media controlling the information we receive in order to promote their owner's priorities is the normal use of expanding fear in the people. This is heavily linked to my earlier example of the new "wars" that the U.S. Has been complex in because the media increased fear of terrorism in order to furnish a base of reserve for the invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq. The media creating fear can also be seen in my example of the politician in Virginia using the media to generate a sense of danger from violent crime, even though that danger was nearly nonexistent. These two instances are only two of many that show that the media is used to control the thoughts and worries of their audiences to increase behalf and support.

As one can see, there are many reasons for the control of media, the main purpose for a corporation's existence is to profit. This behalf can be gained by obtaining larger audiences and effectively, controlling more people. In order to gain a larger audience, the news channels must show what the viewers want to see, or at least, what the media wants them to think they want to see. This can be achieved by convincing people to reserve governmental decisions, and then showing news that makes the supporter feel like they made a inescapable gift by supporting that decision. Such an instance can be seen by comprehension through this scenario: a news channel shows information with the intent to gain reserve for the invasion of a exact country known to have strong terrorist links. The people who see this information reserve the decision, and next on the news is the inescapable outcome of the invasion, even though there are most likely more negative reactions than the few the media has time to cover. This is an example of the sort of censorship of information that news networks select to utilize, and in doing so are attracting more viewers by showing what they "want" to see. through this process, the news corporations gain more reserve for their agenda, more viewers for profit, and even more control over the people.

A similar plan is used to gain behalf through promoting the acceptance of economic inequality, which in essence is the preservation of power in the elite. By taking stances that make the masses feel that economic inequality is acceptable, they dilute the effects of challenges against these views. Such a stance is the promotion of the feeling that some people are simply not meant for inescapable tasks in society. The idea that inescapable responsibilities and titles are only achievable by using people with degrees from Harvard or Yale, people that have been through plan conditioning and think in the way that is "required" for that position. The straightforward fact, however, is that these positions require alarmingly diminutive that cannot be obtained through average channels. Take for example the responsibilities of legislative representatives, while I'm quite sure it is a tough position to fill, I believe that it would be quite satisfactorily filled by person who at the very least has ideas on the way community should be conducted. It is not as if the decisions such a lawmaker is required to make are so hard that those who think for themselves would not be able to make them.

Your Baby's Mouthing - inherent Dangers and Precautions

Experienced moms and dads know one incontrovertible maxim of parenting: babies will put whatever within reach into their mouths. Moreover, they'll do so with diminutive regard for taste, texture, cleanliness, or danger. For new parents, retention things from seeing their way into the mouths of their babies can prove a harrowing experience.

Mouthing is general behavior for infants. It's a part of their amelioration during which they form connections to the world around them. Even though most babies stop mouthing midway straight through their second year, their first eighteen months are filled with risks. In this article, we'll quote the dangers and offer a few tips for protecting your diminutive one.

Baby Gate

Knowing The Risks

When infants put foreign objects into their mouths, there is a risk of infection, disease, choking, and swallowing toxic or sharp materials. For example, your baby might gain way to one of the small caps on your bathroom toilet. The cap might be too big for her to swallow, but can still cause infection if she puts it in her mouth.

An errant staple or paper clip can indeed hide in a rug or carpet. If your diminutive one swallows it, the sharp edges can damage her organs. A pen cap, penny, or small eraser can block her air passages and cause her to choke. In short, practically every foreign object poses a danger and requires parents to remain ever-vigilant.

Protecting Your Infant

It's impossible to watch your baby every second she is awake. And it's normally during those brief seconds that she somehow manages to find and eat strange objects. With that in mind, focus on what you can control.

First, limit your baby's way to whatever smaller than her fist. Even though she might try to eat a large rubber ball, you'll have the relax of knowing she'll be unsuccessful. Second, make sure that whatever she places her mouth on is disinfected regularly. This is especially important in environments where other babies are present. Third, baby-proof your home. Most homes have chemicals and potentially hazardous items near the floor. You'll need to place these things out of your baby's reach.

View The World From Her Perspective

The best way to baby-proof your house is to get down on your knees and view everything from her perspective. If she can grab something, there is a good opening she will try to put it into her mouth.

If you have cleaning supplies and chemicals near the floor, store them in an off-limits (i.e. Behind a baby gate) section of your home. Remove any table coverings that she can pull on. Look thought about at the ground for any objects that might catch her attention (e.g. Coins, paper clips, doorstops, magnets, etc.). If you have vases, porcelain, or other breakables, Remove them. Otherwise, your diminutive one can break and eat them.

Even though mouthing is general for infants, the habit can rattle the nerves of new moms and dads. If you take the protective steps described above, you'll dramatically cut the likelihood of a problem. That said, realize that you cannot possibly watch your baby every second of the day.

Safe Baby Gates For Stairs

Stairs are very tricky to handle for just about anything in any place, even for grow ups. Sure adequate we have all somehow tripped and slipped a concentrate times no matter how careful we've been going up and down a well-known staircase. Having an active baby playing colse to your home will all the time test your reflexes and how soon you spot inherent harm for your child. This is when a baby gate becomes an important needed to be installed for a home with a staircase and very young kids. However, it may be a diminutive daunting to choose the right baby gate for you with so many to types to choose from.

The market offers a lot of distinct types such as Pressure Mounted, Hardware Mounted and Retractable Gates. Seeing at all that may confuse you just a tad bit if you don't know the discrepancy in the middle of all of them and what will work best for your home. Generally, pressure mounted gates are not advisable to be installed on staircases as these lack the vigor that hardware mounted gates have to forestall a bad fall. They are great for all other parts of the house but hardware mounted gates contribute you with maximum security on staircases.

Baby Gate

There is also the matter of selecting a baby gate with the type of material you want it made out of. Permanent mounted gates can be made out of whether wood, plastic, metal and durable mesh fabric. They work well as a pet wall to keep your dogs and cats from all sorts of mischief.

Do remember that this security tool is designed to be easy for you to use but a difficult puzzle for a child to outline out. Reconsider the height of your baby gate for this particular purpose as it will not serve its purpose if your child can no ifs ands or buts climb over it or reach over to unlatch the door. Most baby gates are guaranteed safe for children in the middle of 2-3 yrs of age. The door latch and its locking mechanism should be child proof because diminutive kids are most especially persistent.

Installing one on both top and bottom of any staircase is a good prophylactic because, you would also want to keep a crawling tot from exploring up your staircase. Definitely, babies won't no ifs ands or buts know how to go down the stairs. If you are eyeing on those baby gates with lock indicators, it is also well worth that extra dollar.
