History is full of great gifts, gifts that have stood the test of time and have become legendary through our history. They are the gifts that are known by name, gifts matched not only in their legendary status but also size and originality.

What would you reconsider to be the two many gifts in history? Do mythological gifts count? Do real gifts count? In terms of real gifts, there are two that come first.

The Trojan Horse

Some gifts seem like gifts, but are in fact, traps. That was the case during the Trojan War when the Greeks built a horse and filled it with Greek warriors before putting it in front of the gates. It was primary in ancient times for a defeated normal to surrender his horse, so the symbolic gift of the horse seemed to Trojans to be a notice of surrender from the Greeks. The trap worked and the Trojans were defeated because of one of the most cunning forces ploys in history.

In terms of mythological or fictional gifts, you can't beat these two:

Fire

According to Greek mythology, we can thank one god for the gift of fire - Prometheus. Prometheus, who also gave humanity writing, mathematics, agriculture, and medicine, stole fire from Zeus and gave it to humanity. For his betrayal of Zeus, Prometheus was chained to a rock where an eagle came every day to rip out his liver, which grew back every time.

The Gift of the Magi

In this book written in 1906, Jim and Della Dillingham Young are a join in love, but who can barely afford their apartment. For Christmas, Della buys Jim a chain for his prized pocket watch given to him by his father. She pays for it by cutting off her long hair and selling it to make a wig. Unknown to her, Jim sells his pocket watch to buy her a gorgeous set of combs so she can comb her long hair.

The moral in that story, written by William Porter, is that sometimes material possessions are not the many gift you can get, and sometimes unselfish love is the many of all gifts.

Southerners have difficulties comprehension why Yankees get such a laugh out of Southern baby names. Citizen who are not from the area may believe that double or even triple names are used in combinations for no other presume than meter or syntax. On the other hand, it would be a real shame to skip a brave ancestor who is truly worthy of remembrance. Commonly there is a competition in each for first dibs for the names of the supreme kin. The general rules in this situation are first come first serve, but occasionally the rules are broken resulting in a large whole of cousins all bearing same names. To avoid sure chaos at house reunions, each one sports a special nickname. Did you ever wonder why nicknames are so favorite in the south? Well, now you know; it's to differentiate in the middle of all those limited boys named Beauregard and Nathan Bedford. How else could you call one of them without bringing in the whole clan? Unique southern double names truly come in handy in these circumstances. So, now you know why southerners are supreme for nicknames as well as double names. Occasionally there is a need to resort to triple names to be sure that each supreme departed ancestor is honored.

There are many theories behind original southern baby names. It is puzzling to me why house names are more foremost to new parents residing south of the Mason Dixon Line than in other parts of the country. I have heard many arguments on this subject, but one fact that is inarguable is that you will find more beautiful, and meaningful as you are now aware, names in the south than you will come over in any place else on earth. The next time you hear a Yankee giggling and making fun of a child named Billy Bob, tell them to show some respect. Chances are that the name they are laughing at once belonged to a person worthy of note.
